We grow over 80,000 plants of English & French lavender, all with
their own unique traits. Some varieties include Purple Bouquet, Melissa,
Grosso, Hidcote Giant, Super and many more.
Our largest French bloom of the season typically takes place during the first two weeks of July. We will have a smaller English bloom in mid June and even smaller in mid September. Our lavender honey is always in high demand; the yield is dependent upon
our busy bees. What makes our lavender honey unique is that we do not
add anything to it. It’s naturally made from our hives after the bees
have finished gathering nectar from our lavender plants. Due to its
popularity, we sell our honey on a first come, first served basis at the
farm only. Sorry, we do not ship honey.
Yes, pictures are encouraged! However, there is a site fee for any extensive photo shoot such as professional, hired, fashion, engagement or wedding photos utilizing professional camera equipment (multiple lenses, sun reflectors, tripod, etc) requires a site fee. Professional photographers must be insured, naming Lavender by the Bay as an additional insured (required). Please arrange shoots by contacting us at least one week prior to your desired shoot date. During the bloom season, there is a site fee for professional photographers. Please contact us for more info.
An extensive photo shoot encompasses a professional, hired, engagement, wedding or extensive shoot utilizing professional camera equipment (multiple lenses, sun reflectors, tripod, etc.) Please note, there is no facility available for change of clothing. Appointments may be limited on holidays and holiday weekends.
We will start taking reservations for these shoots. They will be scheduled after normal business hours. Monday- Friday 5-6:30pm and Saturday-Sunday 6-7:30pm. The weekday photo shoot fee will be $250 and the weekend photo shoot fee will be $350.
There is no public transportation directly to the farm, but you may take
the LIRR to the town of Greenport. Lavender by the Bay is only a
20-minute bike ride from the Greenport train station. You can also take a
bus through Hampton Jitney to East Marion, or arrange Dan’s Bike Rental
to meet you with bikes at your hotel, train or bus stop.
There are so many activities to enjoy on the North Fork from wine
tasting at one of the many local vineyards to great shopping and dining
in the town of Greenport and surrounding towns. For visitor information,

all-day trip: please make sure to take advantage of all the North Fork
has to offer.
Please call or email us if you would like to schedule a visit for a
large group. Parking and field capacity is limited and we want to ensure
a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate buses or
limos at the farm. Buses are not permitted to drop-off from the road in
front of the farm.

Lavandula (lavender!), is a genus of 42 species of flowering plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae. Lavender has an aromatic smell and is known for its soothing and relaxing benefits. Though both English and French lavender are part of the mint family
(Labiatae), the differences between these two varieties of lavender
include their range of flower color, bloom time, size, and level of
hardiness.

Lavender has three basic needs: Lots of sun, well-drained soil and a
haircut at the end of the season. When planting your lavender in the
ground, make sure the soil has good drainage and avoid planting next to a
sprinkler head. If you want to replant in a bigger pot, make sure to
use one that has drainage holes as lavender is susceptible to root rot
if the roots sit submerged in water. Do not over water your plant; water
only when the soil is dry to the touch. When giving your lavender a
haircut at the end of the season, you will want to cut the lavender back
3-4 inches above where the plant gets woody at the base. Avoid cutting
it shorter than that; you may harm the plant. Cutting back the lavender
will prepare the plant for winter and stimulate growth for the following
season.
Lavender is best dried! Never place your fresh bunches in water, as the
stems will absorb the water and rot over time. If you want your lavender
to dry straight, we suggest you split your bunches into 2-3 smaller
bunches and secure with a rubber band. Using an opened paper clip,
attach the clip to the rubber band and hang your bunches upside down on a
clothes hanger in a dry area. After 4-7 days combine your bunches and
place in a vase. We recommend you use a vase with a wide opening and
remove the rubber band so the stems can breathe; this will prevent the
stems from getting moldy. If your lavender starts to wilt, hang it
upside down and follow the instructions above.
Lavender’s lovely fragrance comes from the essential oils locked inside
the lavender buds. If your lavender ever loses its fragrance, gently
pinch a couple of the flower buds to release the scent. If your sachet
or pillow ever loses its scent, just give it a little squeeze to release
the fragrance.

lavender buds intact, you will have fragrance. Just give your bunch or
sachet a gentle pinch/squeeze to release more fragrance.

We use USPS to ship out orders. We try our best to ship out orders expeditiously, we typically send out orders every Tuesday and Wednesday. First class packages should arrive within 3-5 business days of being shipped and Flat Rate packages should arrive within 2-3 business days of being being shipped.
